Plymouth READS Picks Mystery by Author with Plymouth Roots
This year’s Plymouth READS book pick is “Carolina Moonset” by Matt Goldman. Copies are available to be checked out at the Plymouth Library with three in-person events in April to discuss the book.
“The most important thing for me personally is building community, is having people get to know each other, having people get to understand each other. We have a very diverse population. It’s nice when people come to together around a book,” said LuAnn Svendsen, chair of Plymouth READS.
Svendsen says it’s the first time a mystery has been selected and the first time there’s been a unanimous selection by the library committee.
The author, Matt Goldman, is a best-selling author with local roots.
“He’s actually a Plymouth boy and went to Armstrong High School then went out to California,” said Svendsen.
Goldman went on to write for “Seinfeld” and the “Ellen” show before becoming a best-selling author.
People can check the book “Carolina Moonset” out of the Plymouth Library or they can pick up one of the community copies at the library that are meant to circulate among friends and neighbors in Plymouth.
“If you have a community copy, it behooves you to pass it around. It’s fun if people write their name and initials inside the cover indicating you’ve read the book,” said Svendsen. “The best one we’ve gotten back had 11 signatures.”
There are three in-person events planned in April for the community to connect over the book. You can learn about them here.
