Plymouth Police Seize Guns, Drugs in Traffic Stop
It was a busy night for the Plymouth Police Department. On Tuesday evening, Plymouth officers on foot patrol at a local hotel located a stolen car in the parking lot.
The three occupants inside the vehicle ran into the hotel where they were ultimately arrested without incident.
Illegal Guns, Drugs Found During Traffic Stop
A short time later, in a separate incident, Plymouth police conducted a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Bass Lake Road and Northwest Boulevard.
Officers found drugs and two handguns inside the vehicle. According to Plymouth Police Chief Erik Fadden, one of the guns was loaded with high velocity bullets capable of penetrating body armor.
“Plymouth is a safer community today because we have two guns off the street that were in the hands of the wrong people,” said Fadden.
The two individuals arrested are both convicted felons not allowed to possess firearms.
Fadden says incidents like these highlight how important police officers are to the communities they serve.
“Overall policing is far tougher today than it was two years ago,” Fadden stated. “I commend the officers on a daily basis that they still come to work in tough conditions where they’re not always feeling appreciated but they’re out there doing great, proactive police work.”
The Plymouth Police Department is investigating both incidents.
