Plymouth Police Officer Shoots Armed Suspect in Domestic Disturbance
A Plymouth police officer shot and injured an armed suspect following a domestic disturbance call early Tuesday morning, city officials said.
According to a press release sent by the city, the Plymouth Police Department responded to the call shortly after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday about a disturbance involving a man knocking on a residential window in the 6100 block of Quinwood Ln. N., where an apartment complex is located.
Upon arrival, a Plymouth police officer confronted a man in the parking lot who was armed with a handgun, officials said. The officer then shot the man.
Plymouth police officers administered first aid to the suspect, who was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, officials said. The man was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
The officer was not injured during the incident and will be placed on critical incident leave, which is standard procedure after an officer-involved shooting.
No other details about the case were made available at this time.
Officials said the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will conduct an independent review of the incident, which is also standard procedure.
