Plymouth Hy-Vee Celebrates Grand Opening
Hy-Vee’s continued expansion into the Twin Cities grocery store market has now made its way to the city of Plymouth.
“You look at northwest Minneapolis, and it’s a growing area out towards here,” said Rich Winans, store director of the Plymouth Hy-Vee. “And I think we’ve been looking at this area of the city for a while and found a great opportunity and thought it was time for us to get in and give the city of Plymouth a brand new grocery store.”
The new Plymouth Hy-Vee, along County Road 24 and Highway 55, opened its doors to customers at 6 a.m. Tuesday. The 56,000-square-foot store features made-to-order sushi, a fast casual dining area and a Starbucks.
Unlike the other Hy-Vee stores in the Twin Cities, this is a smaller location that was put in an existing building once occupied by Rainbow and Cub Foods. But as Hy-Vee grows its presence in Minnesota, they considered Plymouth a prime location for expansion.
“And now we’re at 10 [stores],” Winans said. “We’ve opened two in the last 45 days. Our continued growth into the metro is very exciting for Hy-Vee. It’s exciting for our employee owners, and for our customers that we continue to give them these beautiful stores and the offerings they want.”
The Plymouth Hy-Vee will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will eventually employ 400 people.
