Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival To Take Place at New Location
A winter tradition in Plymouth will get a new location this year.
Fire & Ice, the city’s 36th annual festival, will take place this year at Plymouth Creek Playfield. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The city previously held the event on Parkers Lake. However, in recent years — including last year — the event had to be canceled due to unsafe or poor ice conditions.
The switch to Plymouth Creek Playfield, located 3625 Fernbrook Lane. N., lessens the risk for uncooperative weather.
The free event will continue to offer many family winter favorites despite not being held on a frozen lake. That includes fireworks beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Other activities for families include ice skating, sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. A heated tented will also be set up that will offer family bingo, DJ-led music and live music after fireworks by Jonah and the Whales.
Food trucks and an ice bar will also be on hand.
Free shuttle service will be provided to and from the Plymouth Community Center.
