Plymouth Dad Returns from Deployment, Surprises Son at School
David Peterson returned from a deployment with the 934th Airlift Wing and surprised his son Orion at the School of Engineering and Arts in Golden Valley. Peterson and his family live in Plymouth.
Back from Deployment
Teresa Peterson visited the School of Engineering and Arts in Golden Valley to read to her son’s first grade class. Her son Orion had no idea that her mom was in on a big surprise too.
“I was hoping we could figure out some way to surprise him so it would be something special for him,” said Peterson. “It’s been a long six and a half months.”
Peterson’s husband David serves with the 934th Airlift Wing out of Fort Snelling. David waited just around the corner while his wife Teresa finished reading the book.
“I’m very excited. I can’t wait to see his reaction,” said David. “It’s going to be something I haven’t seen in over six months.”
The reunion was sweet and special. Orion ran to his dad and gave him a big hug. What did he miss doing with dad the most during the deployment? Going to McDonald’s after school and playing games.
“It feels great,” said David. “Cause I sure missed him. I missed being away from the family and the sacrifices they made to support my career and service.”
There are two other boys in the Peterson family.
