Plymouth Company Requests State Dollars to Expand
A Plymouth aerospace and defense company is applying for state funds to help it expand and add jobs. Alliant Techsystems Operations is applying for the Minnesota Investment Fund Program and Job Creation Fund Program. Both programs provide financial incentives to new and expanding businesses that meet certain job creation and capital investment targets creation funds.
Alliant Techsystems Operations is a subsidiary of Virginia-based Northrop Grumman, which bought Alliant last year for $7.8 billion. The company makes precision guided missiles and rocket boosters that service the International Space Station.
According to city officials, Alliant employs 581 people in Plymouth. It plans to add 65 jobs, a majority of them lab-tech positions, with salaries averaging about $100,000 a year.
