Plymouth Coated in Love Founder Prepares for ‘3,000 Acts of Kindness’
Plymouth resident Danielle Igbanugo is the founder of Coated in Love and she’s collecting coats at Calvary Church in Golden Valley for a “3,000 Acts of Kindness” event.
“It’s a day for people experiencing homelessness to come in, get the things they need, get companionship or someone to talk to, and just relax,” explained Igbanugo.
Igbanugo founded Coated in Love nine years ago to meet the needs of the community. She founded the organization and organized the 3,000 Act of Kindness event after an interaction with a homeless man that affected her deeply.
The event includes a gift pack with a brand-new winter coat, a hoodie, boots, a hat, socks, underwear and toiletries. Chick-fil-A will be providing everyone with a warm meal and there will be people providing free haircuts as well as social service agencies available too.
Igbanugo says it’s a rewarding event.
“The biggest thing last year was ‘thank you,'” said Igbanugo.
She says people would express gratitude for having lunch with another person or just talking and connecting with someone over a haircut.
“It’s really the simple things in life that mean so much,” said Igbanugo.
The event is scheduled for Dec. 12 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. If you have donations or services to give, or you’d like to volunteer, you can learn more here.
