Plymouth Asks for Ideas to Rename County Road 47
The city of Plymouth is asking for suggestions for a new name for the stretch of County Road 47 that has been transferred from Hennepin County to the city.
It extends from Plymouth’s western border at County Road 101 to Northwest Boulevard.
Residents can submit a name suggestion through the city’s website or social media pages from March 14-31.
The Plymouth City Council will consider submissions and select the new road name. Then, the new name will be announced at the State of the City address on Saturday, April 23 at the Plymouth Community Center.
County Road 47 is a rural road that was designed when the area was populated with farms. Now, it’s a bustling area with an elementary school and developments. The entire corridor will be reconstructed in three phases over multiple years, depending on funding. The first phase is scheduled to begin this summer and it will include the segment between County Road 101 and the Lawndale/Peony Lane intersection.
The city of Plymouth has requested $20 million in state bond funds to help pay for the project.
