Plans Underway to Ease Congestion Near Meadowbrook Elementary
There are plans in the works to help curb traffic congestion near Meadowbrook Elementary in Golden Valley, especially during peak drop-off and pick-up times.
The Hopkins School District purchased the former Boy Scouts building on Glenwood Avenue in 2018 and has plans to incorporate the parking lot into the drop-off/pick-up configuration. This could help ease congestion that backs up on Glenwood Avenue and Turner Crossroad.
The former Boy Scouts building will house a special education program and a virtual learning program.
Starting in the fall of 2023, the school district will also be moving the five sections of sixth grade away from the elementary school to middle schools. This change impacts all sixth graders in the district.
Before the work begins, the city has to approve of a few land use amendments. You can hear the planning commission’s discussion here.
