Pilot Killed in Crash ID’d as CEO of Plymouth Flooring Company
The pilot who died following a plane crash Friday afternoon on Lake Mille Lacs has been identified as the CEO and owner of Plymouth-based Renovation Systems.
Ryan Comer, 47, of Blaine, co-founded the company, which specializes in flooring for multifamily and commercial properties.
According to the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, Comer was piloting a float plane when it crashed shortly before 2 p.m. Friday on the west side of Lake Mille Lacs.
Comer’s float plane was one of two attempting to land on the water. Another pilot landed safely and witnessed the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton said Comer’s body was recovered at about 10 p.m. Friday. Burton said the recovery involved numerous agencies.
According to his LinkedIn page, Comer grew Renovation Systems out of a small basement office into a company that now employs more than 150 people.
