Perpich Junior Students Showcase ‘Emerging’ Arts Exhibit This Summer
It’s a big week for Perpich Arts High School students. Friday is graduation day. And there’s an opportunity for next year’s graduating class to show off their art work.
Perpich juniors are displaying two of their art pieces in an exhibition titled “Emerging.”
“This work shows a lot of growth that has taken over the students’ first year here,” said Kathryn D’Elia, studio arts chair and visual arts instructor at Perpich. “The stuff they’re making now is radically different from what they came in with just nine months ago.”
The 11th-graders created art in a wide range of mediums. Everything from sculptures and ceramics to paintings, photography and digital art can be found.
“When you come look at their work, there’s not only attractive imagery to enjoy, there is an artist statement with every single piece where that artist is describing what they’re thinking about,” said D’Elia.
Perpich is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the summer.
