Perpich Arts School Reports Enrollment Increase
The Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley is closing in on its application process for next school year. This week the school showed off some of its talented students.
“Public performances like this are an end product of the work that goes on at Perpich all the time,” said Conn McCartan, principal. “Unlike a traditional high school setting where performances are extra curricular, this is a showcase of the curricular things that are going on here.”
Students performed for the “Sound Works 2” concert, where students picked their own pieces. Student Tori Evans says that makes the experience special.
“We picked all these songs. We picked what we get to play, what we get to sing, and what we get to do,” said Evans. “That means that we really enjoy what we are doing and have some connection to it and it’s a more authentic piece.”
Enrollment at the school is up about 7 percent over last year. The deadline to apply to attend Perpich is Feb. 1.
