Pelican BioThermal Seeks State Funds to Help Grow Jobs in Maple Grove
Pelican BioThermal, a manufacturing company relocating from Plymouth to Maple Grove, hopes to get state funds that could help it launch a new product line and grow jobs right here in the northwest metro.
The company is applying for a $300,000 forgivable loan offered through DEED’s Minnesota Investment Fund. The money would help the business buy new machinery and equipment. The Maple Grove City Council approved applying for the funds on the company’s behalf at its meeting Monday night.
Pelican BioThermal makes temperature-controlled packaging for several industries, including pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. Its packaging also helps in the shipment of COVID-19 vaccine.
Located in Maple Grove’s Red Rock Business Park, the business expects to add as many as 50 new employees in its new space over the next three years. The company relocated to Maple Grove after outgrowing its facility in Plymouth.
