Patrol Sergeant Named New Hope ‘Employee of the Year’
A New Hope police sergeant is getting significant recognition from the city he serves. Sergeant Mike TenEyck was named New Hope’s “2023 Employee of the Year.”
TenEyck has been with the police department since 2008 serving in a variety of roles. Those include school resource officer, drug task force officer, SWAT and temporary sergeant, before his promotion to sergeant in 2020.
“I’ve been lucky at this agency. I’ve been able to do a different job about every three to four years,” he said.
Officials say TenEyck is always looking out for the overall well-being of his fellow officers.
“We are kind of one big family in this department,” said TenEyck.
The city recognized TenEyck for his community engagement efforts. City officials say TenEyck often comes in on his days off to participate in events.
“I try to make as many things as I can throughout my schedule. Working the night shift or late afternoon shift, it’s difficult at times. But when I can come in and interact with the community, it’s great,” TenEyck explained.
TenEyck says policing is still an honorable profession and there are plenty of opportunities at the New Hope Police Department.
“It’s a great job, and still is a great job. We’re out here doing work every day,” he said. “People are still calling us every day. They need us every day, and it’s just very rewarding.”
