Oxbow Creek Elementary School Gym Gets Superhero-Sized Makeover
A Brooklyn Park gymnasium got a superhero-sized makeover this week to get students excited about exercise.
“Our ultimate goal is that we want every one of our students here at Oxbow to come to physical education and be excited about it,” said Dan Masloski, physical education teacher at Oxbow Creek Elementary.
Masloski and other staff members at Oxbow Creek Elementary spent days transforming the gym into a superhero-themed obstacle course.
It’s part of the school’s “Scooter World” program, where students navigate through an elaborate obstacle course decorated in popular Marvel and DC comic book characters.
Along the way, the kids stop at 12 stations to do different exercises to work their muscles.
Kids learn a valuable lesson in the process.
“The big thing is that everybody can be a superhero,” Masloski said. “Whether you’re big, small, whether you’re a teacher, a doctor, you’re a superhero, a firefighter and so forth.”
The students will also have an opportunity to take their parents through the Scooter World obstacles.
