Osseo School District Chooses Kim Hiel To Be Next Superintendent
The Osseo School Board selected Kim Hiel as its preferred candidate to be the district’s next superintendent.
“I’m honored to be joining such a strong community,” said Hiel in a statement. “I’m looking forward to partnering in bringing our schools to even greater heights.”
Hiel is the current superintendent of Fridley Public Schools. She has experience in Osseo Area Schools as an assistant superintendent and a principal at Zanewood Community, a STEAM school within the district. She was also a finalist for the Robbinsdale superintendent job when the board selected David Engstrom and was a principal in the Robbinsdale School District.
“Dr. Hiel is passionate about her work and centers scholars in all she does,” said Osseo School Board Chair Jackie Mosqueda-Jones in a statement. “Her exemplary experience with teaching and learning and strategic planning makes her well positioned to lead our district and bring our bold future to life. It’s also an honor to have Osseo Area Schools first Black superintendent.”
Contract negotiations will now begin.
Pending successful contract negotiations, the new superintendent will start July 2023.
