Osseo School Board Picks Board Chair, Vice Chair
After a previous multi-meeting deadlock, the Osseo School Board appeared united at its most recent meeting, electing acting chair Jackie Mosqueda-Jones as chair and Tanya Simons as vice chair in 6-0 votes.
During six previous votes, the board was split 3-3 between Mosqueda-Jones and Simons for chair.
Both Mosqueda-Jones and Simons spoke following the vote, and both mentioned the importance of the hiring of the next superintendent and implementation of the district’s strategic plan. See the full meeting here.
“We have a significant job of hiring a superintendent and implementing a strategic plan,” said Tanya Simons. “I know we’ve all been committed to this work together and I’m looking forward to the collaboration that we will have as a board.”
“We are committed to seeking out voices that we do not hear from,” said Jackie Mosqueda-Jones. “We are committed to continuing our strategic plan as written and we will work to make sure everything we work forward on this board is good for each and every scholar, as our mission says.”
A special school board meeting will be held on Feb. 21 regarding the superintendent search, which will be followed by a series of interviews of superintendent candidates. For the full schedule, click here.
