Osseo Lions Vote to Cancel 2020 Lions Roar
The Osseo Lions Roar for 2020 has been canceled. The city confirmed the news Wednesday morning.
Each year, the Osseo Lions host the Lions Roar in downtown Osseo. A parade that winds through downtown draws hundreds, if not a few thousand people. The festival and events surrounding Lions Roar are highly anticipated and highly attended.
But the Osseo Lions felt the 2020 festival was too much of a risk for organizers and attendees alike and voted on Tuesday to cancel.
“It is with great regret and sorrow to announce the decision of the Osseo Lions Club Board to move forward with the cancellation of this year’s Lion’s Roar,” said board president Ed Columbus in a press release. “The board feels this decision is being made in the best interest of our Osseo Lions Club membership.”

Columbus said more than 65 percent of members are over the age of 60 as well as many participants, organizers and community members.
“The Lions Roar will come back,” said Columbus. “We need to look forward to bringing it back even stronger and better in 2021.”
Osseo Lions are working on a press release and we will update the story when we receive it.
