Osseo Council Approves Second Cannabis Retailer
The city of Osseo, which has spent months planning a municipal cannabis retail operation, has approved a second marijuana shop located in the city’s downtown.
On Monday, Nov. 10, the Osseo City Council approved applications for both cannabis retailers.
Along with its own municipal operation planned for the former Press and News newspaper office at 33 2nd St. NE, a second application was approved for Roz Chunks LLC to operate at 332 Central Ave.
Family-Owned Store
Husband-and-wife team Seth and Alicia Nesselhuf will operate Osseo’s only privately-owned cannabis business.
The pair lives in northeast Minneapolis, and said they fell in love with Osseo while meeting friends at the Lion’s Roar parade.
“Our proposed dispensary is not part of a chain or a large corporate expansion — it would be our one and only location,” Seth Nesselhuf told the council. “That makes it our sole focus. We’re putting all of our energy, resources and passion into ensuring that this business reflects the highest standards of compliance, community care and customer experience.”
The downtown property planned for the shop is situated between Union Speed and Style to the north and Dean’s Super Market to the south. At one time, a brewery wanted to open in the building, but those plans appear to be defunct.
“We plan to host small, welcoming, education gatherings for those who might be cannabis-curious but have never been around it before,” Alicia Nesselhuf said. “Our goal is to be a trusted and approachable member of the Osseo community.”
According to Council Member Mark Schulz, due to its population, state law dictates that Osseo can have no more than two cannabis retailers.
“This has been a day that we’ve been looking forward to for a couple of years,” he said. “I’m also very excited about this particular location that they chose because it will apparently provide updates and upgrades to that building that it has been long looked forward to.”

Municipal Store Approved
The council unanimously approved the city’s application for a municipal cannabis retailer.
“The whole intention of this from the start was not that we wanted to be the weed capital of the northwest suburbs — that’s not our intention,” Schulz said. “It was an attempt to be responsive to the residents and try to find ways to help fund government that [does] not solely on the backs of the people living here.”
