Osseo Amends State Funding Request To Include Central Avenue Streetscape
The Osseo City Council approved an updated resolution Monday night seeking state bond funds from this year’s legislative session.
The city is seeking $1.6 million in state bonding dollars to complete design plans for a new city hall and public safety building for police and firefighters.
Additionally, the city is seeking bond funds to help pay for Central Avenue streetscape improvements.
According to engineer Alyson Fauske, who is contracted to work for the city, the pavers have deteriorated significantly between 1st and 4th streets. The city would replace them with concrete pavement. The existing trees and planting beds would also be replaced.
That project’s total estimated cost is $563,000.
Senator Susan Pha stated in a letter to the city that she hoped to include Osseo in a bonding bill due to the city not being reimbursed for work completed on the recent lift station project. Only projects underway are eligible for state bonding dollars. Bond funding can’t be used for projects already completed.
The Osseo City Council unanimously approved the resolution seeking state bonding funds in a 5-0 vote.
