Osseo Afterschool Care Hopes to Connect Kids
An Osseo before and afterschool program run by Dori Trossen hopes to connect kids in Osseo with each other.
Trossen says her husband grew up in town and still maintains relationships he made at Osseo Elementary School. But she noticed that her children aren’t necessarily forming bonds with other children who live in town. The school might not be located in the same neighborhood and activities may encourage relationships that span several towns.
“My kid may not know a kid down the street because they spend time in a neighboring city,” says Trossen. “That’s where they are growing community. If we want Osseo to be strong, like it is, it’s nice to have kids here and get to know each other.”
So, Trossen decided to pivot her business Mind Body Soul LLC away from an in-home day care and personal training and instead offer before and after school care. Students catch the bus in the mornings or get off the bus in the afternoons in Sipe Park. On rainy days, Trossen rents space from the nearby St. Paul Lutheran Church.
While Mind Body Soul LLC is a business, Trossen hopes it’s also a place where kids will form friendships that will last.
