Organics Recycling Drop-Off Site Coming to Robbinsdale
Robbinsdale residents will soon have a new place to dispose of their organics.
Hennepin County recently awarded the city of Robbinsdale a $5,000 grant to establish an organics drop-off site near several apartment buildings and townhomes at 3933 West Broadway Avenue. The site is currently home to a community garden.

Robbinsdale plans to put the organics drop-off site near this community garden along West Broadway Avenue.
The city will use the money to build an enclosure, provide signage, promote the site and incentivize participation in the program. Incentives include free supplies like compostable bags, countertop pails and informational materials.
This will be Robbinsdale’s first organics drop-off site.
About one-third of the trash collected in Hennepin County consists of organic materials, including food, food-soiled paper, and certified compostable products that could be composted. County officials say establishing organics drop-off sites can help fill a service gap for residents who don’t have access to curbside organics recycling programs.
Robbinsdale expects about 100 households to sign up and use the site in the first two years. No word yet on when the drop-off site will be available.
