OMNI Brewing To Make Business Change ‘You’re Going To See A Lot More Of’
A successful Maple Grove brewery and taproom is making changes to its business model.
OMNI Brewing Co. is seeking state approval to switch from a small brewer to a brewpub.
The distinction will allow OMNI to expand its food menu. It would also let the business serve wine, which it makes at its facility in Rosemount.
The founders expect to see other taprooms follow suit as the brewing business continues to evolve.
“It will allow OMNI to have multiple taproom locations, so if we wanted to add another location, we could,” said OMNI co-founder Justin Walsh. “We are no longer distributing beer, but it also means we can’t distribute beer anymore, as we’d be now licensed as a brewpub instead of a brewery.”
The license change is expected to take effect before May 1.
The change could also help OMNI expand to other locations.
“This change is something I think you’re going to see a lot more of from breweries in our state,” said OMNI co-founder Zach Ward. “It just helps us be more nimble and grow in years to come.”
