Northport Elementary Teacher Surprised with $2,500 Classroom Grant
Teachers in the Robbinsdale School District received a pleasant surprise this week. On Tuesday, the Seven Dreams Foundation surprised Northport Elementary School teacher Amy Jermstad with a $2,500 classroom grant.
“We have exciting news everybody!” announced Emily Wallace-Jackson in front of a Northport Elementary School classroom. “Your teacher applied for money from our foundation to pay for some really cool programming in your school,” she said before cheers erupted.
Jermstad will use the money to purchase visual aids and storytelling props that help kids better understand the stories read to them in school.
“Our goal is for them to be able to go home and retell those stories to their parents, and maybe in their native languages for students who English is a second or third language for them.”
Teachers at nine schools in the Robbinsdale School District received grants for classroom needs.
