Northport Elementary Celebrates Family Cultural Day
Northport Elementary School in Brooklyn Center hosted families for Family Cultural Day on Friday.
“This is a day to celebrate who they are and the places they come from,” said Dany Montano Sosa, a Northport Elementary teacher. “They can be proud of their heritage and their family culture.”
More than 50 students dressed up in traditional outfits from more than 20 different regions and marched in a parade around the school and at an assembly. Students also sang songs, and staff members were pleased a large number of parents came to the event.
“It’s a representation of all of the cultures here in our school,” said Montano Sosa. “This is cool. We have students from so many different places.”
