North Hennepin’s ‘Stages of Equity’ Festival Begins Thursday
North Hennepin Community College will host the third annual Stages of Equity Festival starting Thursday.
The two-day event is a joint effort between the college and the city of Brooklyn Park and features an art exhibit, live dance performances, concerts, workshops and free food.
Each of the featured artists come from communities of color.
“We have enough that divides us in this world. We have a racial divide, we have a political divide. We have a socioeconomic divide. Arts really gives us a chance to unite,” said Kathy Hendrickson, dean of the School of Fine Arts and Global Studies.
The event begins Thursday at 11 a.m. and goes through Friday. Admission is free, but people are encouraged to RSVP.
Below is a video from Strong Movement, which will perform Friday, March 24 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the North Hennepin Fire Arts Center Theater.
