North Hennepin to Hold Virtual ‘Stages of Equity’ Festival
While many music and theater venues have yet to reopen to the public, North Hennepin Community College is hosting a virtual festival to satisfy people’s craving for the arts, while spreading an important message about equity in the process.
This weekend, North Hennepin Community College will host the inaugural Stages of Equity Festival.
The three-day virtual event will feature a showcase of art, performances, and discussions featuring artists of color.
Some of the content is prerecorded, but live events will happen each day that involve important and difficult conversations about race and equity.
“The need for this dialogue is not any more needed now, but it’s just magnified,” said Kathy Hendrickson, NHCC’s Dean of Fine Arts. “And I think it’s not important, I think it’s critical. It’s crucial”
The event begins April 30 and goes through May 2.
For more information you can go to stagesofequity.org. The cost is free and North Hennepin invites everyone to attend.
