North Hennepin Hosts ‘Warrior Women Traveling Exhibit’
North Hennepin Community College is hosting a traveling exhibit highlighting the 1973 occupation of Wounded Knee in South Dakota.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of that moment in American history.
The “Warrior Women Traveling Exhibit” created by the Warrior Women Project offers a self-guided learning experience that includes visitors being able to scan a QR code to hear first-hand accounts from Indigenous women who lived through that experience.
“I think the importance of it is really uplifting and empowering the important voices of the Native women who were so influential in the occupation of Wounded Knee in 1973,” said Justice Fisher, diversity and equity specialist at North Hennepin Community College.
The exhibit is on display on the first floor of North Hennepin’s Bioscience and Health Careers Center through March 15.
