North Hennepin Art Show Features High School Students
Some of the finest artwork from local high school students is on display at North Hennepin Community College. The 15th annual Northwestern High School Art Show features art pieces from nearly a dozen high schools in the northwest suburbs.
“This show just proves how much talent is out there,” said Kathy Hendrickson, North Hennepin’s dean of fine arts and global studies. “It also I think keenly illustrates that we need places for those voices to be heard.”
The art showcases a variety of mediums, including ceramics and jewelry art.
Schools represented in the CCX News viewing area include Osseo, Maple Grove, Park Center, Armstrong and Prairie Seeds Academy.
“We are encouraged by the level of engagement from each participating school,” said Hendrickson.
North Hennepin faculty will recognize one student from each school with an artistic merit award. Visitors can also vote for their favorite piece through the “People’s Choice Award.”
The exhibition runs through Feb. 24 inside the Josesph Gazzuolo Fine Arts Gallery, which is open for public viewing. Awards will be announced on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
