Nextern Plans $25M Global Headquarters in Maple Grove
The state of Minnesota has awarded funding to Nextern, a medical device company that plans to create a new global headquarters in Maple Grove.
Nextern is planning to take over space at 10601 Fountains Drive, near Costco. The company would consolidate operations of four different buildings across the Twin Cities into a new 110,000-square-foot space.
According to officials with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the proposed $25 million development in Maple Grove is expected to create 75 high-paying jobs. Nextern would receive $450,000 through the state’s Job Creation Fund and $600,000 from the Minnesota Investment Fund.
“The Minnesota Investment Fund and Job Creation Fund are crucial to the success of business expansion in Minnesota,” said Kevin McKinnon, temporary commissioner for DEED, on the announcement.
Nextern collaborates with clinicians and device partners to create and manufacture medical devices. The state funds would help create jobs with an average wage of $54.95 per hour, officials said.
The Nextern funding was among $5.4 million in awards announced for eight Minnesota businesses.
