Newsmakers: Sen. Susan Pha To Push for Local Bonding Funds
Sen. Susan Pha (DFL-Brooklyn Park) outlined her priorities for the upcoming legislative session in an interview with CCX News this week. Sen. Pha focused on bonding support for local projects across her district.
“That’s what I’m hopeful for this year is a bonding bill,” said Pha. “We’re hoping that we can fund more local projects this year.”
Last year’s bonding bill was more for state and state agency projects.
Pha highlighted one bonding bill hopeful in each of her three cities, which includes Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and Osseo.
In Brooklyn Park, Pha is hoping bonding money can be allocated to build water infrastructure for Brooklyn Park’s biotech district. In Brooklyn Center, her goal is to secure money for the city’s opportunity site. In Osseo, Pha plans to advocate for a local option sales tax to help fund improvements to city hall and local parks.

Brooklyn Center’s “Opportunity Site” is vacant land that the city hopes to redevelop.
