Newsmakers: Sen. Limmer Advises Taxpayers to ‘Hang On To Your Wallets’
Sen. Warren Limmer (R-Maple Grove) advises taxpayers to prepare for a 40 percent increase in spending that was passed last legislative session by the DFL majority.
“Hang on to your wallets,” said Limmer, who says taxpayers won’t feel an increase until after the election.
“We really are in for a tax increase,” said Limmer. “Personally I think we should cut back on spending, especially when we raised the spending so much last year.”
Limmer also to expect changes in the school resource officer laws. The House did approve bipartisan changes, which now await a Senate vote.
“Quite honestly, the school resource officer issue has started to resolve itself,” said Limmer. “I’ve been talking to law enforcement entities. I’ve been talking to legislators. I think they are sanding off the rough edges.”
Local law enforcement agencies reacted to the change in laws surrounding school resource officers, which resulted in several agencies pulling out of local schools.
