Newsmakers: Sen. John Hoffman Talks Brooklyn Park Bonding Projects
Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) is pushing for Brooklyn Park bonding projects to be considered at the Minnesota Legislature this year.
Those projects include a new Brooklyn Park fire station, improvements to the Zanewood Community Center, and enhancements to Three Rivers Park District’s Mississippi Gateway Regional Park along West River Road.
“The two of us that represent Brooklyn Park have made it very clear what our priorities we are with bonding pieces, so that’s why I’m hoping it will rise to the top — because you know what — it’s a good ask,” said Hoffman.
Hoffman expects the fast and furious pace of the previous legislative session to continue.
“It’s already started,” said Hoffman. “But we have now 43 days if you really look at the calendar. It’s not 120 days, it’s really 43 days to get a bonding project done, to do things we need to do in order to move on for next year. And next year is a budget year.”
Hoffman, as chair of the Human Services committee, also expects to do some work with group home living and services.
“There’s some gaps that we need to fix in there, specifically some protection gaps and reimbursement rate gaps in how that’s regulated and looked at,” said Hoffman.
