Newsmakers: Robbinsdale Superintendent David Engstrom Says More to Come on COVID-19 School Plans
Robbinsdale Superintendent David Engstrom has been on the job since July and he’s still getting to know the district that spans seven communities.
“Where to start as the new superintendent in Robbinsdale Schools is really meeting people,” said Engstrom in a Newsmakers interview. “I’m really listening to people and what the next steps are that we need to take as a district as we’re serving our students.”
One of the big questions on the minds of parents and community members is in regards to how the school year will look and feel in regards to the rising COVID-19 delta variant.
Engstrom says the district is working on a plan.
“We have a team of people who are looking at all of the guidance that is coming to us from state and federal levels and also looking at local data,” said Engstrom. “This is a fluid situation that we’ve experienced over the last 18 months.”
Engstrom says you can expect more information in the next few weeks.
“Everybody is worried about, wondering about and you know what, we are listening to the community too,” said Engstrom. “We’ll keep looking at data and guidance and then it may change how the infection rate is going in the community.”
