Newsmakers: Rep. Vang Talks Return to House Floor
Rep. Samantha Vang (DFL-Brooklyn Center) is stepping into her new role as co-chair of the Legacy Finance Committee, overseeing and parsing through funding requests for arts, culture, parks, and museums across Minnesota.
Vang recently toured the Como Zoo—where she even fed a giraffe—as well as North Memorial Health Hospital to talk about infrastructure needs.
“It’s a lot more hands-on to be in-district and talk directly with stakeholders and see the programs that are running and the people that we serve,” said Rep. Vang.
“So this is a better option than being in committee and seeing presentations and slide after slide so it’s been quite a good couple of weeks for us.”
Vang will be returning to St. Paul, after House party leaders struck a power-sharing deal. Democrats have stayed away from House proceedings since Jan. 14 and have mainly met with constituents and toured project requests in their home district and around the state.
“We’re all eager to return to the House floor. It’s been quite a long couple of weeks for everyone, but we’ve been busy,” said Vang.
