Newsmakers: Plymouth Woman Helps Deliver ‘3,000 Acts of Kindness’ to the Homeless
Danielle Igbanugo, founder of Coated in Love, discussed the nonprofit’s annual “3,000 Acts of Kindness” event to help people experiencing homelessness.
The event will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Monday, Dec. 9, and offers a warm and welcoming space with access to essential items like coats, hats, and mittens, as well as services like haircuts, foot care and connections to social service agencies.
“When I speak to people experiencing homelessness, they always tell me the hardest thing is feeling unseen,” said Igbanugo. “So we pair them with a volunteer buddy who helps them navigate the event and reminds them they are valued.”
Igbanugo says the event also creates a sense of community, with a café, live music and a place to relax and connect.
“Everybody has a story, and we all need to be loved. This event is about sharing that love,” said Igbanugo, who is from Plymouth.
Coated in Love is seeking volunteers for setup and donations of coats, especially men’s large sizes. To learn more, visit coatedinlove.org.
