Newsmakers: Osseo Superintendent Kim Hiel Talks School Facility Upgrades
Osseo Area Schools Superintendent Kim Hiel says educators are looking forward to a fresh start with a new school year. Teachers and education professionals have been busy with professional developments and preparing schools for learning.
The district started work on a strategic plan in 2022, and this past summer they expanded that work to identify strategic priorities.
“We’re becoming for this year more tightly focused in the goals that we want, hitting particular our highest priorities and how do we align that in our system level, department level, our school level, our district level, all the way down to the teacher level,” explained Hiel. “So that way we take precise action and then we measure it for results, so we are really looking, applying things for stronger fidelity, stronger focus, stronger alignment so we have success for our scholars.”
Hiel remains thankful to voters for passing levy requests last election cycle.
“Our stakeholders supported us with a bond levy, so we are going to be able to touch every one of our buildings in our system,” said Hiel. “We have 66 projects to complete in four years.”
Hiel says every Osseo school will get some form of flexible learning and and there are also major projects planned like roof repair, HVAC replacement or extensive renovations.
