Newsmakers: How a Calendar Promotes Racial Unity
Chaz Sandifer collaborated with female entrepreneurs to create a calendar that promotes and honors friendships between Black and White women.
“A Black & White Affair Calendar” profiles entrepreneurs to boost morale, spread love, and promote racial unity.
“I feel as Black and White women, we are the pillars of our homes,” said Sandifer. “We set the tone, so our goal is to teach to not be racist and lead with love.”
Sandifer collaborated with Dawn Johnson and Bre McGee to bring the calendar to life after watching the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder.
“I felt a need to bridge a gap between Black and White women but through a healthy way with empathy, love, and healing from the inside out. So at the time, I didn’t have the funding to create this, but I had the concept. So I kept working on it, working on it and we were able to launch it this year,” said Sandifer.
The calendar pairs Black and White women together and for every month of 2023 and each month features a quote from the Black woman about a connection with her White counterpart.
“Their accomplices or co-conspirators we call them. People they feel like they have their back behind closed doors, they are supporting their journey and are really focused on being well together,” said Sandifer.
