Newsmakers: CEAP President Says Food Shelf Seeing Many First-Time Users
Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP) President Clare Brumback urges people to donate food or money to support their neighbors in need during March FoodShare month.
“Now we are seeing in our 52-year history that this is the largest percentage ever of first-time users,” said Brumback. “Folks in our community who are coming here for the first time, we want to make sure we have everything we need.”
Brumback says the nonprofit is hosting a month-long campaign in March called the CEAP Community Challenge.
“It’s our opportunity to let the community know what our needs are, what the needs of our neighbors are, and then move forward together,” said Brumback. “It’s a lot of fun.’
They will host Hunger Happy Hours, Dining to Donate, food drives, and several opportunities to volunteer or support the nonprofit through dollars or food.
“All groceries are welcome and actually, they are very important this year,” said Brumback. “All families who drop off groceries know what families like, so those are really great resources for us.”
