Newly Named Hello! Plymouth Organization To Help Market City
An organization aimed at getting people to shop, eat, play and stay in Plymouth now officially has a name. Say hello to Hello! Plymouth.
“We wanted something a little bit different and we thought ‘Hello’ was really encouraging for any type of business,” said Katie Langland, the destination marketing coordinator for Hello! Plymouth. “So whether it’s business meetings, whether it’s a girls’ getaway coming into town, whether it’s a hockey tournament coming into Plymouth to stay at the Plymouth Ice Center, we thought that that really worked for every market that we might be working with.”
Hello! Plymouth is funded through a 3 percent lodging tax paid by people who stay in one of Plymouth’s nine hotels.
The organization officially launched in January, and now that it has a name, its first order of business will be to build brand awareness and get the message out locally about what Plymouth has to offer.
“It all comes down to, even, residents,” said Langland. “Plymouth residents might not stay in Plymouth because they don’t really know what there is to do right here in Plymouth, and they might be going to other cities, and so we’re trying to get that message out to Plymouth residents as well.”
Meanwhile, Plymouth isn’t the only local city with a new name for its tourism/marketing organization. Golden Valley partnered with St. Louis Park to market that area. For years, that pairing was called Discover St. Louis Park, but that name is now changing to Westopolis.
