New Pickleball Courts Open at Plymouth’s Zachary Playfield
A new pickleball court in Plymouth is drawing rave reviews from players of America’s fastest growing sport.
“It’s been a lot of fun,” said Allen Safranek, a pickleball player from Maple Grove. “You build them, and they’ll come.”
Safranek was one of the people taking advantage of the six new pickleball courts that opened recently at Plymouth’s Zachary Playfield.
The city of Plymouth installed the courts July 12 due to the overwhelming demand from players in the northwest metro.
And with features that include a smooth playing surface, wind nets, and benches, this new pickleball destination has already become a fan favorite.
“Actually we were all texting, okay, when’s Zachary open, when’s Zachary open?” Safranek said. “We were already anticipating it, and when we got here, it came through.”
Plymouth built the courts on a site that was formerly a grass field. The total cost of the project was $306,000.
