New Life Time Club Plans Move Forward in Maple Grove
Plans are moving forward to bring a new, state-of-the-art Life Time athletic club to Maple Grove.
As CCX News previously reported, it’s part of a bigger plan to bring the company’s luxury living concept to the city.
The future Life Time facility would be a two-story, 120,000-square-foot building, almost double the size of the existing 70,000-square-foot Maple Grove building connected to the city’s community center.
In late 2024, Life Time and Maple Grove city leaders struck a land exchange deal that would allow Life Time to obtain property south of Highway 610 and west of Home Depot in the Minnesota Health Village. In exchange, Maple Grove would take over the current Life Time that would allow the city to expand its community center.
The new flagship Life Time would have the latest amenities, including a large outdoor pool deck, full-service salon and indoor pickleball courts. It’s proposed to have 600 parking spaces and employ more than 200 people.
Members of the Maple Grove Planning Commission this week expressed support for the plans.
“It’s a great looking building, excited to have it,” said Craig Lamothe, chair of the Maple Grove Planning Commission, at this week’s meeting. “It’s going to be an improvement over what confined space you have right now in the community center that’s outdated, but we’ll be able to put that to good use.”

A future phase includes Life Time building 200 to 385 luxury apartment units next to the athletic club.
The Maple Grove City Council is expected to review the athletic club plans next week and vote on planned-unit development stage plan approval.
Natalie Nye, Life Time’s associate development manager, told the planning commission this week that if the project receives approval, Life Time expects to begin construction next spring.
Nye said completion of the new club is currently slated for late 2027.
