New Hope to Require Trash Haulers to Offer Organics Recycling in 2022
The city of New Hope will ask all garbage haulers to offer some type of organics recycling starting in January. This update to city code will align with Hennepin County’s requirement of requiring all cities to offer some type of organics collection.
New Hope currently has an open garbage collection system, where residents can choose their hauler. The city requires haulers to be licensed and to collect trash once a week.
Currently the only hauler offering joint organics collection is Randy’s Sanitation and only 38 households participate in the program.
