New Hope Swears In New Mayor, Appoints Council Member
The city of New Hope held swearing-in ceremonies Monday for council members, including the city’s new mayor.
Mayor John Elder, who previously was a council member, took the oath of office Monday night after winning election last fall.
Elder replaces longtime Mayor Kathi Hemken, who did a ceremonial exchange of the gavel. Hemken served as mayor since 2008 until deciding not to run for re-election last fall.
The New Hope City Council also approved the appointment of Kyle Coryell Monday night. Coryell will fill the remaining two years of Elder’s city council seat. Elder, who vacated the seat after becoming mayor, served as a council member since 2008.
Returning council members Michael Isenberg and Andy Hoffe were also sworn in.
This is Isenberg’s second term. Hoffe has served on the council since 2004.
