New Hope School Receives State Mental Health Grant
A local school district that provides specialized education programs just received a big boost from the state. Intermediate District 287 in Plymouth is one of several districts that will share nearly $5 million in mental health grants.
At the North Education Center in New Hope, certain classrooms in K-2 will get a special ed teacher and a therapist to work with select students. Their families will also have access to mental health services.
“This is so important that we’re intervening with students at this early age in their lives so that we can have different outcomes as they get older,” said North Education Center Principal Tonya Allen.
The School Innovation Grant is for two years. The share going to Intermediate District 287 is $1.9 million.
