New Hope Police Adjust to New Home
The New Hope Police Department recently moved into its new building. Officials say the new space is helping them to do their jobs more efficiently.
Building plans have been in the works since 2013. The new facility is more than double the size of the old one.
“It’s a long time coming,” said Capt. Scott Slawson with the New Hope Police Department.
New Hope police gave CCX News a tour of the new building. Walk through the front door and there’s a spacious lobby with seating. There are many other upgrades, including enhanced interview rooms.
“We have two private interview rooms off of the lobby. So people can now speak to officers in private instead of in the middle of the lobby where other people are present,” said Slawson.
Patrol officers also get a perk — desk space — something they didn’t have before. Down the hall, a conference room will be used for roll call and training.
“We got greatly enhanced multimedia capability in here, and we can bring outside departments in, and host large scale training events in here also,” explained Slawson.
The lower level features a large evidence room. Rolling cabinets help to keep things in order. Meanwhile, the big perk is underground parking. On Thursday, crews painting lines to mark stalls.
Officials say the underground parking will allow them to get out the door faster during an emergency because they won’t have to stop to wipe the snow off vehicles.
