New Hope Man Faces Felony Drug Charges, Accused of Storing Heroin in Apartment
A New Hope man is accused of storing a large amount of heroin in his apartment, according to a criminal complaint filed on Friday.
Gregory Carter, 35, is charged with fifth-degree felony drug possession and illegal possession of a firearm.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 6100 block of West Broadway Avenue. Officers had gathered information that Carter was using his apartment to store narcotics.
Upon entry, police located Carter and two children in the apartment. A search by police then found “a large quantity of heroin” in the toilet. The exact amount could not be determined at the time of charging as the heroin needing to dry to properly measure. Police also recovered a handgun in a bedroom.
Carter is prohibited from possessing firearms because of a 2013 felony drug conviction.
Court records show Carter also faces a first-degree drug charge for allegedly possessing more than 25 grams of heroin stemming from a case in Ramsey County.
