New Hope CVS Pharmacy Store To Close March 4
For the third time in less than a month, a drugstore chain has announced plans to close a store in the northwest suburbs.
CCX News has confirmed that the New Hope CVS pharmacy at Bass Lake Road and Winnetka Avenue will close.
A company spokesperson says the closure will take effect March 4.
All prescriptions will be transferred to the Robbinsdale CVS, located three miles away, the spokesperson said.
“Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions,” said Amy Thibault, director of external communications with CVS Pharmacy. “Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community.”
The company says all employees will be offered “comparable roles” at other stores.
Other local pharmacies that are closing soon include the Brooklyn Center CVS, which is set to close Jan. 30, and the Crystal Walgreens, which is slated to shutter Feb. 20.
Business experts point out that pharmacies don’t make much money off prescriptions and say closures are related to declining in-store sales.
CVS closed about 300 stores nationwide in 2024, part of the company’s efforts to combat slumping profits and rising medical expenses.
