New Brooklyn Park Apartment Building Planned in Hwy. 610 Corridor
Plans are in the works in Brooklyn Park for a new apartment building that some say is much needed.
OV Development is proposing The Brook, a 4-story, 192-unit apartment complex to be built on vacant land in the Highway 610 corridor, just south of Hy-Vee grocery store.
The city approved preliminary plans for the project this week.
OV Development is a subsidiary of Edina-based Olympus Ventures, a private investment company led by Richard Schulze, the founder of Best Buy.
According to city documents, five percent of the units would be set aside for people living at 30 percent of the area’s median income.
Those in support of the project say the city has an abundance of one-bedroom apartments and this would fill a need for two- and three-bedroom units.
The apartment complex would offer a variety of amenities, including a pool, golf simulator, coffee bar and dog wash, documents showed.
